United States: Ex-President Donald Trump’s campaign said that they would literally take legal action and ask for a criminal investigation into a group that made a misleading online ad in Pennsylvania and that particular ad showed clips of Trump telling Republicans not to vote by mail.
Changing Stance on Mail Voting
Even though Trump used to be against mail voting, he now supports it and wants his voters to use it in the presidential election.
The ad from Pennsylvania Values PAC starts with “MAGA Patriots, listen to our president,” and then shows clips of Trump criticizing mail voting.
Content of the Ad
“Mail in voting is totally corrupt, get that through your head,” Trump says in one such clip and that particular 30 seconds ad ends with a text on the screen that is “ Stand strong with President Tump against mail in voting!”

According to Google data, this particular digital ad runs over the weekend. On Tuesday afternoon, the Trump campaign sent the group a cease-and-desist letter.
“We have seen your commercial, which purports to show that Pennsylvania voters have been instructed by President Trump not to cast mail-in ballots.
This commercial may be considered a criminal conspiracy as well as a civil conspiracy to harm the Pennsylvania voting rights of President Trump’s supporters. The Trump team wrote to the organization’s publicly listed treasurer, demanding that they “cease and desist broadcasting, or otherwise distributing this false advertisement immediately via the internet or elsewhere, and preserve all relevant documents in anticipation of likely litigation.”
Campaign’s Legal Argument

Ad Removal and Cost
Based on Google statistics, Pennsylvania Values PAC paid between $10,000 and $15,000 to display the advertisement to over 800,000 Pennsylvania voters. Since then, Google has taken down the advertisement from the site, alleging a policy violation.
