Republicans Use Harris Speculation
Still, the thought of Harris joining the race is helping GOP candidates by giving them a major opponent they can energize both donors and the conservative base to counter.
Because she wants to decide by late August, the Democratic candidates are in a holding pattern for now. It’s Republicans, not Democrats, who are already moving forward.

During interviews, phone calls for donations, and gatherings with voters, Democrats keep acting like Harris is already the candidate, politico.com reported.
Conservative commentator Steve Hilton and Riverside Sheriff Chad Bianco have made what they call “failed leadership” by Democrats into a key point in their campaigns, repeatedly bringing up Kamala Harris on Fox News as a prime case.
In an email to supporters recently, Hilton urged donors to remember that a coronation would be poor for Texas, as Harris has begun laying the groundwork for her run.
“I sense that this is the best shot for someone to be elected statewide in California who’s not a Democrat for at least 20 years, and I think the evident reason for that is the failure of one-party rule,” Hilton stated.
Harris Mulls 2026 Governor Run
“The candidate who’s going to win in 2026, regardless of party label, is the change candidate. Kamala Harris is the one who least represents change.”
Much like other candidates for Congress who tried to defeat Nancy Pelosi, Maxine Waters, and Kevin McCarthy, the Republicans are now emphasizing their challenger, Harris, politico.com reported.
As for the governor’s race, the grander scale lets mainly unknown Republicans borrow attacks used against Harris by Trump and gain from that, getting support from donors, coverage on FOX News, and maybe from Trump.
