United States: President Biden’s border executive order, as revealed by former White House press secretary and current MSNBC host Jen Psaki, is intended to solve a significant “political vulnerability” before to the 2024 election.
Biden’s Order Details
According to officials, the order will temporarily halt noncitizens’ ability to cross the southern border once the average daily encounter rate surpasses 2,500 over the course of seven days. That will remain in place for 14 days following a seven-day period during which less than 1,500 interactions occurred along the border.
Immigration agents would find it simpler to swiftly deport people who lack a valid reason to be in the country, according to officials.
During her appearance on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” Psaki was frank about the president’s strategic thinking.
Temporary Border Halt
“I think there are a couple of things that are true at the same time,” Psaki said. “First, the system; there are several reasons why the border is breached, including a breach in border security. The wall won’t work; after all, technology has come a long way in the last few decades. Numerous technological tools are available for border security. That’s a necessary component of the process. That’s what you want to do, if the White House is thinking that.

Additionally, in conjunction with a more compassionate asylum system—which is utterly flawed and unjust to those who are attempting to obtain asylum and trying to come across the border.
Former President Trump’s reversal of the bipartisan border bill earlier this year was attributed to Psaki, who then asserted that the White House recognized it needed to “do something” to handle the mass migration.
Strategic Thinking
“There needs to be something that’s done, but also, politically, this is one of the biggest vulnerabilities,” Psaki stated. “And regardless of who is upset about the specifics of what is and isn’t in here, the president and his campaign are at political risk. They are aware of that. Politically, they also realized that they would have to take action prior to the election, perhaps in the form of an executive order. And that’s what’s currently transpiring.”
Mixed Reactions
Republicans have criticized Biden for his executive order, saying that it should have been implemented sooner and that it did not go far enough to stop the migrant crisis. Progressive Democrats, on the other hand, have connected Biden’s reversal on the border policy to those of President Trump.
